Women Empowerment Schemes launched in Assam
Guwahati, Dec 26 (PTI) Assam government today launched several schemes for empowerment of women, including unmarried, unemployed single women and widows.
State social welfare minister Akon Bora unveiling these schemes at a meeting here. He distributed cheques under the schemes of Empowerment of Unmarried and Unemployed Single Women and Widows (Baidou and Nabou), Financial Incentive to Girls belonging to BPL families (Na-Bowari) who marry after attaining the age of twenty years and Mukhya Mantrir Jiban Jyoti Achoni.
During 2010-11 financial year, the state government had earmarked Rs 50 crore for 'Baidou and Nabou' scheme and 50,000 beneficiaries of the plan will get a one-time assistance of Rs 10,000 each.
For 'Na-Bowari' scheme, Rs 10 crore had been earmarked and under it 10,000 beneficiaries would get a one-time help of Rs 10,000 each.
